Solo rower Dave Brooks crossing the finish line of the Atlantic Rowing Race 2009 on his boat Team Panasonic on Tuesday 23rd March 2010 at 21:53 hrs UTC giving him a race time of 78 days 8 hours and 23 minutes. Dave has finished 18th in the race and takes the final podium spot in the solo class.

Dave's final few miles were very tough - battling big seas, strong winds and heavy rain, but none the less a large crowd of fellow rowers and friends gathered to watch him make land. Sadly Dave's parents missed him make land as they are yet to arrive in Antigua until Thursday, however, Peter Van Kets perform his duties well and escorted Dave off his boat.

Throughout the race, Dave has had a very positive outlook often exclaiming that while the poor weather is slowing him down, what are a few extra days at sea in the whole scheme of things. He has also been fortunate enough to see other rowers at sea, giving him an exceptional psychological boost.

While Dave has gone through tough and testing times, like all of the competitors he has been a guest on one of Earths most incredible aquariums and has been treated to some phenomenal sights. He has even had an amount of success with the fishing line to!

While most ocean rowing races are more than enough for competitors this is just the beginning for Dave, his next venture planned for the end of the year will see him row across the Pacific Ocean.
