PRESS RELEASE: LIMITED INTELLIGENCE RETIRE FROM RACE
It is with great regret that the first retirement of the Atlantic Rowing Race 09 has been reported. Limited Intelligence, the four man crew from Gloucestershire have officially retired from the race after 29 year old Benjy Thomasson got off the boat on the afternoon of Friday 08 January. Mr Thomasson was taken by the support yacht Ocean Planet where he has since been resting. There was no medical emergency on board and all are safe and well. Benjy withdrew from the race for personal reasons.
The three remaining oarsmen have confirmed they will continue the row across to Antigua. While they will now not be eligible for a race position they are still able to row to Antigua, a feat achieved by only a handful of people worldwide.
