Race Starts

The start of the Atantic Rowing Race 09 is finally upon us! After all the delays and the anticipation the start is under 4 hours away. The crews are making the final preparations to their boats and will soon be leaving the marina to paddle round to the start line.

Britannia III, the record attempting boat and crew, left La Gomera this morning at 0530 hrs and is now on her voyage across the Atlantic. To break the current record of 33 days and 7 hours she needs to arrive in English Harbour, Antigua by 1230 hours on Saturday the 06 February.

As soon as the crews leave La Gomera and start this epic race their tracking beacons will be live and begin transmitting their position back on the progress page several times a day, so check back at regular intervals to see how the crews are getting on.
